WHITENING MACHINE

Until
the 1970s, the Italian rice technology was one of the most advanced
ones in this sector. Leading companies like GUIDETTI, OLMIA, MINGHETTI
contributed to making the Italian technological and development
skills known in the rice-producing areas all over the world. Since
then, machines and, consequently, technologies have increasingly
been imported to Italy from many other countries: although these
are undoubtedly much cheaper machines, they often need to be 'adapted'
to the Italian specific situation, which is characterised by the
widest range of rice varieties in the world. Indeed, in the leading
rice-producing countries - which, as a consequence, are also the
leading machinery manufacturers - rice production is much more homogeneous.
By and large, these countries, which produce millions of tons of
rice, consume and export only one variety of rice, usually coarse
grain rice; consequently, all machinery is manufactured in relation
to the type of rice produced and to the type of market (these countries
export rice with a breakage up to 25%) on which they operate. It
is widely known today that the leading technology of many foreign
companies focuses on the production of whitening machines ensuring
excellent results on long grain rice, but much more disappointing
ones on round grain varieties.
Our experience in this sector, the overall situation, and the often-frustrating
competition with foreign companies encouraged us to design and produce
a whitening machine manufactured in Italy by a company capable of
taking constant care of its customers and successfully meeting their
needs. This would also eliminate the need for middlemen, and the
need for rice companies to devise changes and adjustments requiring
time and resources which could otherwise be used for the production
and sale of piled rice.
The machine design and production has several objectives:
- Designing a highly efficient machine, in terms of performance,
processing level, and flour-free rice with all Italian and, consequently,
world rice varieties.
- Ensuring simple maintenance and adjustment operations.
- Minimising moving - i.e. wear and tear - components.
- Using the same number of KW ensuring identical capacity and processing
performances
- Ensuring easy installation and noiseless operation.
We decided to produce a horizontal machine because better results
can undoubtedly be achieved thanks to the specific shape of emery
rollers, the inflow of fresh air into the shaft, the horizontal
location of the whitening chamber, and the increased versatility
of this type of machine. Indeed, modern vertical machines give lower
performances in the processing of round rice as against long rice:
this is mainly due to a stronger need to 'brake' rice in order to
prevent it from flowing too quickly from the vertical whitening
chamber, as well as to install 4 o 6 metal securing bars which,
moving towards the discs and thus reducing the gap between the grids
and the discs, inevitably increase pressure on the rice grain and,
consequently, rice breakage rates.
The processing shaft is quite simple, and consists of a metering
screw fed by a feedbox with check windows on all sides; two gates
- the first is used only for opening/closing, while the second is
also used to control the precise quantity of the rice being fed;
two emery rollers, two grids, and two bearings on which the entire
systems moves. For the main shaft a pulley is used, fitted with
an easily removable bush: maintenance, noise, moving components,
and the amount of energy required for the main engine are thus minimised.
The perfect balance of all moving components allows us to sell the
machine with anti-vibration feet, which ensure easier machine handling
and installation within the site, with no need to fix it to the
ground by means of pegs or cement bases.

paddy husker mod. BP10S is totally automatic to avoid the inconvenience
due to the manual ones.
The paddy husker mod. BP10S coupled with the closed circuit husk
separator became a combined machine with very good results and easy
to adjust. The close circuit husk separator drived the product into
three parts: cargo rice, light impurities and husk, each product
come out from the machine by a screw conveyor.

The
combined cargo plant is suitable to process paddy rice and obtain
a very good quality of cargo rice free of any residual paddy grain
thanks to the small paddy separator put in the machine. Composed
of a de-husker, closed circuit husk separator, paddy separator and
aspiration plant, with the add of whitening machine, lenght and
thickness graders is possible to produce a good quality of white
rice.

DEVICE

Neodymium
magnets represent the latest generation in magnetic materials. The
properties of these magnets are much superior to the traditional
ones. Permanent magnets are used in almost all industrial areas.
In the milling process are specially placed before the whitening
machines (in order to save internal breaking due to screw, bolt
and, in general, any ferrous particle) and at the end of the lines
to have a final product free from ferrous impurities.
